A geographic information system, or a GIS, is an information technology system that allows for the storage, manipulation, analysis, and display of information that has geographic component, also called geospatial data. A GIS allows for the visualization of multiple layers of geographic data to provide an easy means to present and interpret it. Across the University of Arizona, researchers from a variety of disciplines are utilizing geospatial technologies to answer important questions and support learning and collaborative research initiatives.
The resources here will help you in getting started with GIS technologies whether that is through software instillation or tutorials. If you have any questions or special request for data, help with your GIS, or maps please use the contact links for library personnel on the left side of the page.
