Examples of What We've Worked On

Data Management Planning

Helped many researchers interpret National Science Foundation (NSF) and other funder requirements for the DMP section of a grant. Also provided detailed feedback for improving the DMPs.

Data Strategies

Assessed the data organization needs of a cancer research lab and made recommendations for managing multi-terabyte datasets and connected them with other campus computing resources.

Data Documentation

Created an automated documentation template for a research lab intended to capture and document the characteristics, locations, and responsible individuals for data associated with figures in published research articles.

Complex Data Archiving

Assisted a researcher with organizing and attaching metadata to data in a complex archiving project involving multiple large hierarchical datasets

Software and Data Archiving

Ensured the long-term accessibility of linguistics data by creating, documenting, and archiving a virtual machine consisting of data annotation software alongside the data itself.

Data Strategies

Worked with a researcher to think through how to capture, route, and store instrument data to ensure quality control and ease of analysis and outlined how a relational database could address the identified needs.

Classroom Teaching

Developed custom lectures to train graduate and undergraduate students on data management and visualization.
